Many of the developing countries have a number of NGOs and other development related organizations, however many of them over the years do not really concentrate on the original goals and objectives, or due to change in leaderships the focus of work changes and real impacts decline.
But there are a large portion or small NGOs at the grass roots who do a great job but they lack technical and even financial expertise.
The aim of this initiative is to bring you (an expert or a student who can make a difference and is highly motivated) closer to an NGO who needs your assistance/expertise. The benefit is mutual as the learning process is mutual too.

The Development CAFE has tie ups with many NGOs and Research Insitutions across countries in South Asia and in Africa. However,
Presently this internship opportunities is available only in India. It will soon be expanded to Africa as well.
  • You can be a volunteer/intern to earn credits for your course
  • You can be a volunteer/intern just to take a productive break

Areas of work

You can volunteer in any field of social development like Human Rights, Child development, HIV/AIDS, Trafficking, Alcoholism, Mental Health, Community organization, Urban Development, rural development and many more.  You can also be a research intern and continue your research with an organization involved in research in rural or urban area.

Accomodation, Stipend and others:

Some organizations do pay a minimal amount of stipend, however since this is a short term program involving learning process for you most organizations give only infrastructural support.
Accomodation should also be taken care of by you, however, The Development CAFE would enable you to find a house or paying guest accomondation as per your budget in a safe locality and would assist you throughout your stay in India.
